Just arrived in Vanuatu
We spent two months in the Solomon islands, but since 1 August we are in Vanuatu. We loved our stay in the Solomon islands.
It has a lot of natural beauty with its high vulcanic islands, most still covered in tropical rainforest. It is sparsely populated and
most of the people are completely self reliant, i.e. they grow all their own food, construct their houses from wood, bamboo and palm fronds
and live a very simple life. Very friendly people and cute children. They are happy when yachts stop at heir bay, because then they can exchange
fruit and vegetables for rice, sugar and noodles. For them a change to their normal diet of sweet potatoes, yams, taro or breadfruit. We have started
to write a longer story about our experience in the Solomon islands. It will be posted as soon as we can find an internet cafe when we have finished writing it. Here in Vanuatu mobile phones are now almost everywhere, but internet is still very hard to find and often not working.

Net aangekomen in Vanuatu
yams, taro of broodvrucht.
