Joop back to Holland A week ago Joop's sister Rieneke called to tell us that their mother Martha was in the hospital again with heart problems. These heart problems started about two months ago. By now it is clear that Martha has reached the end of her life, her body is worn out. She has chosen for euthanasia. Joop has booked a flight to the Netherlands as quickly as is possible in Vanuatu. He hopes to be in time to visit his mother one more time and fare well her. Hanneke waits for Joop's return on the boat, which is anchored in a safe anchorage on Ambae island. He is expected back mid september.

Joop terug naar Nederland Een week geleden belde Joop zijn zus Rieneke om te vertellen dat hun moeder Martha weer in het ziekenhuis was opgenomen vanwege hartklachten. Twee maanden geleden was dat voor het eerst. Inmiddels is duidelijk dat Martha aan het eind van haar leven is gekomen, haar lichaam is versleten. Ze heeft gekozen voor euthanasie. Joop heeft zo snel als dat gaat hier in Vanuatu een vlucht naar Nederland geboekt met de hoop zijn moeder nog eenmaal weer te zien en afscheid te nemen. Hanneke blijft op de boot, die in een goede ankerplek ligt bij het eiland Ambae, en wacht op Joop's terugkeer halverwege September.
